Alan, may I politely suggest that the problem is not the question but where you have asked it. There is no topic more controversial on this forum than cycling. People find it particularly hard to accept that changes have been made to roads to make them better for cycling, pedestrians and the people living there for decades. The answer to your question is carry on doing exactly as you suggest provided you are not impinging upon the freedom of others. No entry signs, one way streets, traffic lights etc are motor vehicle infrastructure that deserve no more than a grudging respect from responsible cyclists who ensure that their actions do not in any way hinder, frighten or endanger others. I honestly mean what I said in the original reply. If drivers do not care about committing offences when they know they will not be caught why should we expect a higher standard from cyclists? |
