No, the immediate crisis in Gaza is Hamas' failure to release the hostages and lay down their weapons. If they did so then the fighting could stop. The real cause is 75 years of attempts by Islamic countries to destroy the state of Israel. Some, including Jordan and Egypt, have made peace settlements - others, including Syria and Iran, have continued to refuse to consider any settlement that leaves Israel in existence. Israel includes among its citizens Palestinian Arabs of both Christian and Muslim faiths, who have voting rights and political representation. |
