Peter, I think a lot of the 'east European tradesmen' have left and are not coming back even if they are in 'shortage" trades. A better question might be, 'how is this new development going to be built, given the shortage of labour'. There is no manpower plan for the NHS, let alone the construction trades. Plus these developments were all mooted before Covid-19. That has led to a decline in office usage, people leaving London and an increase in the cost of development. Of course, a piece of land with planning permission for development probably is more valuable than a B&Q with a car park. I am a bit sceptical that this development will be completed in 2025 or 2026 |
