At a guess and it only is a guess the cardboard will need to be placed standing up *inside* your blue box. And you've also "littered" the pavement by the looks of things. Because from the evidence of that photo, to be blunt there's no real evidence that it was you who left it there in the first place. That photo could just as well have been posted by someone else as showing a pile of cardboard which somebody else had left beside their box on collection day. In other boroughs stuff needs to be placed *on top* of the collection box. This is simply because there is probably no agreed definition as to what would constitute "beside" - 1ft, 4ft,10ft ? in such circumstances And thus while Council employees might, under other circumstances be no more or less pubic spirited than the rest of us, their contract of employment with the council is probably fairly specific as to what they can take. With no real room for discretion. Which in this case might otherwise encourage casual dumping besides people bins on collection days. michael adams |
