“Too many cyclists have been doored and fear being doored” I’ve been cycling for over 50 years. Never doored. It is the matter of cycling safely, anticipate potential hazards (like any road users should do) and not just concentrate on keeping momentum. We need to stop scaremongering cycling and promote safe behaviour on bike. “Motorists are travelling too fast and we need more speed cameras.” The majority of motorists stay within the 30mph speed limit. It is sufficiently safe in town. More cameras to enforce 30mph – I can agree with that. Instead of wasting money on ANPR cameras in LTNs. “Cyclists need to stop at lights and pedestrians need to look where they are going. Walking along the pavement while texting or reading a book, cycling while texting or the look-mum-no-hands:look-mum-no-teeth are all antisocial and dangerous.” Agree. That's part of the 'stay safe' behaviour culture that needs to be promoted everywhere - walking, cycling, driving. |
