There was a facinating programme on this very topic on Radio 4's "More Or Less" this morning, entitled "How Effective Is One Dose Of The Vaccine?". They cannot be absolutely certain how long single shot immunity lasts, basically because they've not been being used long enough to tell! (They'll know much better in another year or two). But as the expert Paediatrician on the programme pointed out, vacine efficacy does not suddenly "fall off a cliff" [sic] after three weeks. Meanwhile, as the data comes in, the evidence is mounting that a single shot lasts retains its efficacy for much longer. (Most vaccines do, btw, with some even offering lifelong protection eg some of the jabs we all got as children). Anyhow, I strongly recommend that anyone with worries or reservations listen to this programme on BBC iPlayer, just Cut & Paste the link into your browser: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000r4t9 |
