Two months ago there were zero disabled parking bays out of 19 spaces on Devonshire Road. Now there are 6 as a result of Chiswick residents campaigning for better access for the disabled. Getting able-bodied people out of their cars in a city where a plethora of other choices are available to them is great for the disabled. It frees road space and parking space for the people who really need it. It will be great for disabled people when Chiswick’s able-bodied people stop driving through restricted streets and parking in disabled bays illegally. Able-bodied people who are adamant that they should have the right to drive short distances in zones 2 and 3 of London through residential and shopping streets would be well advised to move to locations like the country that are better suited to their lifestyle choice because life is going to get and stay more difficult for them. |
