I've had the questionable pleasure of dealing with some Chiswick NIMBY's in my time, but the unauthorised extension to the Bell & Crown (my favourite pub when I lived nearby) in a different matter altogether.

When there was a front page article and associated forum thread started about this issue late last year I reviewed the approved plans and, as I posted on the forum at the time, what had been built was nothing like what LBH had approved - it's not even close to it. 

Indeed, if Fullers apply retrospectively to retain it as it is I think they're being very poorly advised professionally as I wouldn't be advising any client of mine to apply retrospectively to retain it as built.  Then again one wonders whether anyone is advising Fulllers at all given they initially stated that it accorded with the approved plans - a 7 year old could have spotted the differences...

Incidentally, it isn't "illegal", it is merely "unauthorised", there is a big difference between the two, an unauthorised development only becomes illegal if the Council serves an enforcement notice requiring its demolition, which is usually a last resort.
