I don't agree with you Stewart. I think the way that technology is now being is used is often rather underhand to put it mildly. Why can't these big companies be more upfront about exactly what the payments are for? The Amazon Prime next day offer with no mention in the same sentence and just as big that they will start and continue to take monthly payments and naming the amount may be an old one but they are relying on the fact that you have no physical record of what you clicked to look back at. You get so many unsolicited promotional emails that it is easy to miss any hint in one of them to anything that might be happening. Perhaps they should be made to be more upfront. Direct debits have a habit of being restarted even when they have been cancelled - direct debit guarantee or not. We are being pushed into using a lot of changing technology and apparently 1 in 4 or 5 of us aren't able to cope adequately with all of it. Do listen to this - Ealing is definitely mentioned but the problems aren't just here! Nearly all of us have some things we can do online - but there is such an ever-changing number. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000823p |
