The closing of the Carlton Road community centre which among other things gave dementia carers some respite, and the closing many years ago now of the Chiswick Community centre so that houses could be built on the land are examples of where charity (ie our taxes) should be allocated right here in Chiswick. Both closures, along with the difficulty of getting day-to-day help for the elderly and disabled in Chiswick have made the lives of the vulnerable in a well-to-do area where they happen to live, much more difficult. |
