"Don't give in to the politics of hatred and division. Vote Remain." What a facile statement. Where exactly is this hatred and division? Perhaps Mr Wynne would care to explain in detail his reasons for wanting to remain in this moribund organisation? I and others might well change our voting intentions. Notwithstanding,it’s a shame that so many people seem to be so ignorant of the facts, and the past, concerning the EU, since we mistakenly signed up to a Common Market all those years ago. I voted then to join a Common Market, not the schlerotic, bloated, undemocratic gravy train that it’s become. Who on earth would want approximately 60% of our laws to be made in a foreign country, and have virtually no control whatsoever over them? I want them to be made in this country by the people we elect. At least we have a chance to throw them out every five years. Perhaps somebody could tell me if we have this unadulterated luxury regarding the unelected bureaucratic non-entities who reside in Brussels? Can we vote them out? A rhetorical question I know, but perhaps Mr Wynne has the answer? I assume that everyone voting to remain in this failing organisation, knows the names and job titles of all the Brussels bureaucrats who rule over us to such a huge extent, their salaries, perks, pensions, expenses, who elected them, when, and for how long, and how do we get rid of them? Answers on a very small postcard. Mr Wynne might supply the stamps. The EU economy is growing (if that’s the word), at an appallingly low level compared to that of the UK. Why do so many people insist on remaining on the proverbial ship that is patently going nowhere fast – and slowly sinking? As a dynamic economy, the EU exports well over half of its exports simply to other EU countries. Perhaps Mr Wynne could kindly explain why this is so? Our fishing industry has been devastated since the Common Fisheries Policy restricted each member state to a 12 mile limit, (admittedly it wasn’t perfect prior to that), but up to 200 miles can be fished by all other member states. This figure of 200 miles is supposed to be an Exclusive Economic Zone under international law, for each country. Perhaps Mr Wynne could explain why this is not the case, as far as the EU is concerned? How can we run and organise the infrastructure of this country, if we are lumbered with an immigration policy whereby we have no control over immigrants from the EU who eventually are given EU citizenship – and this can only get worse with more and more countries entering the EU. Where’s it going to end? Even if we continue to agree to all this, there is still a physical limit as regards numbers. We need immigration, always have done and always will, but the problem is, that regarding EU immigration we have no real control, due to the ludicrous free movement of people rule. Surely we must be the final arbiters of how many people we can accommodate and look after, not the EU? Otherwise how can we plan sensibly for the NHS, schools, housing, transport and all the other parts of our infrastructure that would need to be addressed, with more and more people wanting to come to this country? We have a great country, but there has to be a limit regarding numbers, not regarding immigration per se. Comments from Mr Wynne please. Also, we are not allowed, along with other EU members, to make trade deals with the rest of the world. We are a great trading nation, yet we can’t trade as we should. What a marvellous idea. The EU is a complete mess. Just look at Spain, Italy, and Greece, all part of this successful, dynamic, and democratic ‘federal state‘. Unemployment in Europe, as a whole, stands at roughly 10% while here in the UK it stands rather less at about 5%. Overall unemployment in France is twice that of the UK. However, if you look at the youth unemployment figures for Greece, (50%), Spain, (45%), & Italy (37%) no wonder Far Right organisations have appeared, causing untold trouble and misery, such as Jobbik, Golden Dawn, Front National. These groups would hardly have a look in, if the EU was as successful as so many people like to think. So many people have short term memories, or can’t be bothered to look up a bit of history about the EU, particularly in relation to all the lies and deception we were fed by successive politicians and governments over the past 40 years or so. I am amazed at how we have effectively sleepwalked into this huge rotten mess in which we find ourselves today, and even more amazed that anyone in their right mind would want to join it, let alone stay in it. Did you know that any staff member of the EU Commission could lose his/her pension if they speak out against the EU? These people - e.g. Peter Mandelson - are effectively bribed not to criticise the EU in any shape or form - democracy and corruption working hand in hand. The sooner we get out the better. The more people who vote, the better. At least it will be hugely more democratic than the organisation called the EU. By the way, I’m not saying which way I’m voting…
