| It was interesting to read about the work about to start at St Alban’s church on Acton Green and, in particular, the comment of vicar Richard Moy that “The community saved the church from being sold off to developers because they wanted the space saved for life enhancing activities and of course for worship.” While many people were keen for this disused building to be used for community use rather than for housing, and there were several proposals as to how this could be achieved, I’m not sure everyone was campaigning for it to be given over to ‘...and of course…worship’, In the end this was done through a typical Alpha sect evangelical land grab by Christ Church Turnham Green, who renamed the church ‘CCW4’ and had the parish boundaries changed so Acton Green is no longer in the parish of Acton Green! While the building will remain available for various kinds of community use, I for one will be reluctant to use it while the income from community use goes to support what many believe is a harmful religious cult. |
