Agreed, I'm completely happy for a fragment of my taxes to be spent on maintaining access to an important part of our cultural heritage.
Just because no-one speaks a language in their day to day activity doesn't mean it isn't important that people can speak and read that language. Keeping the language alive obviously improves that understanding.
