If 27.5% of the population of Wales, speak the indigenous language, it is a significant proportion of the population. It is a rapidly growing language with the popularity of Welsh Speaking Schools increasing.
The initial decline of the language was based on historical incidences of corporal punishment in Welsh schools for speaking in Welsh.
Surely a language is as important to preserve as a piece of art or architecture.
