West London in general i would say are not remotely bothered and most likely do not take any interest in the outcome. Just take the figures for the people who turned up at the expansion demo in central London on that Saturday. Between 500-700 which in the context of the numbers effected is pretty dire. It is around 750,000 effected by Heathrow with a further 320,000 being the figure of new people effected directly from a 3rd runway taking the number effected to 1m. Say 600 people turned up as a round up number from 1m. I think that points to the vast majority not bothered be it a 3rd runway or the airport closing. Obviously people are very passionate and vocal against but you have to look at what is most likely the wider thought. And for that i say people are not in the Yes or NO but not remotely interested camp. You cant judge Chiswick either based on this forum or CHATR or twitter in general unless most people you know are totally against which could point to peoples feelings. But If i was to take my own opinion poll from the top of my head i would say most people i personally know are in the not interested camp whatever the outcome "The majority of people in Chiswick would rather there was no third runway" is very wide and open. I would say the answer would vary depending on the question put across. |
