Reported in the ES "More than 20 primary schools in West London will have earthquake shelters in their playgrounds to protect children from noise from Heathrow airport. Seven primary schools under the flight path already have the £85,000 "Adobe " shelters and at least another seven will receive funding for them this year. The igloo-shaped domes- from coiled bags of earth with plaster walls- were designed for Third World disaster zones." Desperate measures. It doesn't say who's paying for them or what the children will be doing in them. Fresh air? Exercise? ...... |
