In response to the OP, who I believe is a former policeman (could be wrong, hope I'm not), is he aware of this from three days ago? http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/antimuslim-hate-crimes-in-london-more-than-triple-in-the-wake-of-paris-attacks-a3126646.html Or for a longer perspective, this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-34138127 I would suggest that the above is why the Met are taking this so seriously, what with Finsbury Park Mosque being so well-known. After all, if it were any other category of crime which had proliferated so steeply, I would expect the Met to take it equally seriously. Two further points: Just because the would-be arsonist was incompetent doesn't make the offence any lesser. And as for St.Michaels, I am not aware that Christian churches are coming in for attack in this country, so that's surely a straw man argument. |
