Why anyone should be allowed to build housing anywhere when there is so much standing empty is beyond me. Until and unless all that is utilised they shouldn't let any of these developers build on any land. Interesting piece in the paper about Switzerland buying IKEA designed flat pack homes to house refugees. These cost £785 each, surely to God this sort of thing could be adapted to provide housing that is truly affordable in this time of real crisis for young people especially? There are so many modern, cheaper alternative house building methods available now I just don't get why we aren't using them. |
