It is likely that the developers have little choice but to go high. The first five floors will be uninhabitable and will have to be given over to commercial space which will be difficult to let. That leaves 17 floors for residential of which 5 or 6 would have to be given over to 'affordable'. Therefore even at 22 storeys half the building is yielding no profit which makes it quite a risky proposition. As far as I can see the only objection to the height is the impact on the views from the river but they are already going to be blighted by developments already approved. |
