I used Alex Falzon from Falbros (http://www.falbros.com/) and would recommend him.

With regards to price, there's two reasons I can think of:

1) It is kind of like a buy in bulk and/or loyalty deal, where because they buy/organise more mortgages they get preferential rates.
2) Because the advisor has their name, business and reputation on the line they do more due diligence in finding the right balance between affordability and repayments. This in turn de-risks the mortgage and thus lowers the rate, improves the terms or both.

Just my 2 cents worth but having gone through them for years thats what I have deduced.
