I don't know. You all sound so rational. The truly democratic and socially forward way would be that the residents in the affordable units pay a reduced service charge. That should be the deal: if the flat is "affordable", then the service charge should be too, without the need to cast people aside as in "if you don't pay, no upholstered sofa for you when you come in". All residents should use the same lift and the same entrance, and the child of Mr A in the penthouse and the child of Mrs B in "affordable" flat n.20 can get to know each other and have a playdate. Maybe I'm just a dreamer. Or maybe they should make sure the power goes off at midnight in the affordable floors to spare those poor people big energy bills. |
