| Just a smile or a chat in a shop or on the bus go a long way. I share my time between Chiswick and a village on the south coast, and in the village most people smile and acknowledge each other. Rather a different matter in London, though when I have smiled or chatted I usually get a good response. One particular moment stays in my mind when I helped a very frail elderly person in a shop. Her drawn face was transformed into the most glorious smile and we had a brief chat. I think that probably improved the day for both of us. |
