Firstly, it should be pointed out that Warwick University itself had nothing to do with declining the request for Maryam Namazie to speak. The decision was taken by the Student Union and in this case it would appear without the knowledge of the president. What actually seems to have happened is that the person responsible for room bookings took it upon him or herself to refuse the meeting. Remember this is probably a 19 or 20 year old who probably did so with the best of intentions or at worst because Maryam Namazie's views didn't chime with whatever political faction in student politics they happened to support.

Maryam Namazie's views seem to me to be interesting and reasonable from the brief scan of the internet I have done but she has made enemies on the left and right because of the way she has expressed them.

Of course she should have been allowed to speak, but as with the gallery story I suspect that this issue has been blown up into something more meaningful than it actually is.
