My beef about buses (and I use them a lot) is the drivers who seem to think they are in a Rally. As soon as the last boarding passenger has tapped their Oyster, the driver floors the accelerator throwing several passengers down the bus and grasping for something to hang on to. Likewise as they approach a stop. If you are trying to descend the stairs from upstairs, it's emergency stop, accelerate, emergency stop and you have to hold tight with both hands to avoid being thrown down the stairs. Anyone elderly, or carrying shopping bags, or with small children has to be so careful to avoid being thrown around the bus with this crazy driving style. It seems to happen more and more. One of these days someone is going to be thrown from one end of a bus to the other and be seriously injured. Why do they do it? They are driving a bus, not a Subaru rally car. |
