It is about a decade or so since Hounslow closed the Children's Day Centre which catered for families with children with disabilities. Although they were ultimately unsuccessful, there was a massive campaign against closure and a huge furore about the issue. The closure of the Chiswick Children's Centre doesn't seem to be generating much protest. Nobody posting here seems to be aware of the background to the closure. Maybe the facility was underused and closure is an inevitable and logical choice or perhaps the current users are predominantly from the more marginalised parts of society and are struggling to get their point of view heard. Or perhaps it is simply a case that the majority of people affected are on holiday. Either way it would be useful to hear some informed comment on what is going on. |
