No, I don't think so. Until the extra slots are available no-one is going to change anything - if the runway is not built then your suggestion would be wasted investment - and you'd have handed over a bunch of passengers to your competitors. Even if the runway is built then they would be profiting from the enlarged airport and you'd have made a loss for their benefit.

Of course you could say that you will put on a flight to Stornoway WHEN the runway is built, and then afterwards make your excuses.

Anyway, I don't see how the Scots could benefit from opposing LHR expansion. It's not as if the airlines are going to fly their shiny new 380s from Glasgow instead.
