| Thursday 9th July, 7.30pm at Christ Church on Turnham Green Green leaflets are being distributed around Chiswick, both on the street and to homes in Chiswick. Please do take the time to read this leaflet and to attend the meeting. The leaflet shows two pictures outlined in red. The second picture is the one used by Lend Lease to demonstrate how the buildings will look to the residents of Chiswick in their Planning Application and related publicity. The first picture has had the tree cover removed and shows the intrusive heights of the buildings behind Empire House in relation to existing buildings adjacent to the site. The purpose of the meeting is to explain why it is vital that an attempt be made to halt this development by Judicial Review. Simon Kverndal QC (a local resident) has undertaken this daunting task and needs our support. Remember that this development, if it is allowed to go ahead, sets the precedent for all others in density and height. No new infrastructure in terms of schools at all levels, doctors surgeries, amenity spaces,etc. are being planned and the present ones are grossly overloaded. Try getting a quick doctor's appointment or your child into a state school of your choice near to home. Hounslow are also not using the opportunity to provide any social housing - all the residential applications are coming in for 'luxury developments'. The list of things that are disadvantageous to Chiswick and its community is long and needs to be kept within reasonable bounds.
