Steve, according to your list, police officers of seargent and below are earning 36700 p.a.That may well be the basic, but nobody earns just the basic.The shift roster means there are overtime hours built into your working week.If you then work overtime as well, you can double that figure.I knew one P.C.that used to work all his rest days, plus he would stay on after his shift if required.He was earning over 100k and he had bought a fishing charter boat business in the West Indies.I'm sure the rail unions would have got enhanced working conditions for train drivers, and not many will be earning just the figure quoted.
