My lovely little Jack Russell, Barney, is currently fighting for his life - on our 4.30pm walk I saw him eating something but he was about 300 yards away, so too late to stop him swallowing whatever it was. 8 hours later he was throwing up, having trouble breathing with chronic shaking and a high temperature. I immediately took him to Medivet where he is on a drip and oxygen and undergoing tests but the prognosis is not good - so anyone who loves animals say a prayer for Barney please. He and Fifi my other dog have eaten exactly the same food save what Barney scoffed at 4.30 on Turnham Green - Fifi is fine, so draw your own conclusions. If you walk your dog on Turnham Green keep them on the lead or walk them somewhere else because it appears someone has either laid down poison or dropped food that is toxic to dogs, Xylitol possibly. I don't wish to panic dog owners, but equally I don't want them to go through what Barney is suffering or the total impotence that I feel about not being able to do anything about my much loved Barney and his current suffering.
