Well, the monitoring process is only effective John if the pet is (a) found (b) scanned and (c) chip details are up to date. If any of those don't happen the animal won't be found. Unfortunately some people find a dog and decide they want to keep it and don't have it scanned for a chip, either because they want to keep it as a pet or for more sinister reasons. There is no law unfortunately (there are petitions to change it) that make scanning of a dead pet compulsory and the owner informed. |
