Yes I agree with all of these points but unfortunately the existing area does not have any wow factor whereby you feel the facades shops etc have to be retained. It gets worse as you proceed to Gunnersbury/Fountain Leisure Centre. Developers should of course "pay" in order to obtain their permission and where the development is large this can extend to providing better local facilities instead of just paying towards a mini roundabout etc.Parking is usually dealt with by preventing occupiers from having a resident's permit. Most of the new units next to the station seem to have been sold so currently there is a demand and obtaining permission for a change of use from commercial to residential is fairly easy.Kensington managed to obtain an exemption from this type of permiited development but Fulham failed. Chiswick Station remains a massive underused space and the station is ripe for development.I don't understand why it is left tardy whilst Turham Green stn has a village feel. I fear London is being overdevelped and these mew overpriced studio flats which could remain empty. The prices sre unsustainable and the bottom line is apart from the rental market it cannot be that pleasant living in a multi occupied concrete block owning a wasting leasehold asset.Best to move out further until an affordable freehold is found. We really are at the top of the market. |
