Agreed Tony - unfortunately that is not the way the cookie is crumbling at the moment in the London Borough of Hounslow. Additional housing means more pressure on schools, doctors' surgeries, dentists, pharmacies, A&E, highway maintenance, policing, recycling, street cleaning, parking, public transport, sewage and sewerage etc. On the plus side under this Government substantial additional funding called the new homes bonus flows to councils in boroughs where new housing is built. In addition the complex and unfair S106 regime has been replaced (again by this Government) with the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) which will ensure that developers provide additional funding to Local Authorities. |
