Just as an addition to your post Richard,LU have staff on or about the track at night during what is known as 'Engineering Hours'. This means that all track is inspected at least every 3 nights as a minimum. That coupled with good security at depots and cctv at other track areas has gone a long way to reducing graffiti. The night track workers are all briefed on action to take on coming across trespassers and contacting line controllers via radio means rapid attendance of BTP. This principle also had major effect during the spate of cable thefts a couple of years ago. As you say, NR seem to do nothing remotely similar. |
