Indeed.. Why were all these serious allegations not put to him while he was still 'compos mentis'? He signed over the deeds to his c£2m apartment only last year in March. He was obviously of sound mind at the time. Since being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease about 6 years ago, he has claimed over £100,000 in parliamentary expenses and allowances. He also very recently signed a letter to the effect that he wanted to remain in the House of Lords, yet at the same time the CPS decided not to prosecute, because the poor man would not be capable of understanding what was going on. So how did he manage to understand fully the documents he signed, relating to his apartment and the House of Lords? The whole episode stinks. |
