Nick Seedling is described as a "Novice Hurdler" and a "hurdle" is a fence and a term regularly used to describe a jump. He hit and somersaulted over a large hurdle - thus was overfaced! I'm not saying that trainers or anyone else mis-treats horses who race whether on the flat or over hurdles / fences / jumps (choose your term on that. When racers are put out to grass many do live to a ripe old age in very good surroundings, but they tend to be the Red Rum's of the racing world and not the majority - they are mainly sold on for other purposes from leisure to meat and all other uses in between. Are you a punter because you knowledge would suggest that you back horses rather than understand, love and appreciate them for the magnificent creatures they are - please correct me if I'm wrong. |
