| The media, and probably everyone else, are hugely enjoying this story because it can be portrayed as a sort of 1960s 'caper' film. The police failure to respond to the alarm, the fact that it was Easter Bank Holiday, the CCTV footage, the Mirror naming them 'Mr. Ginger', 'Mr. Strong' and 'The Gent', all contribute to a hugely enjoyable story amid all the dreary election coverage. And who cares about the victims, who are portrayed as a few dodgy geezers (mostly foreign) getting their ill-gotten gains ripped off. All that's needed now is for them to find footage of Michael Caine saying, 'You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!' |
