I think living without a nuclear deterrent would be mad. tHE world is far too dangerous. If every other country had nice, reasonable leaders, and they could guarantee to have such leaders forever more, who would happily disarm their countries, fine. But the world is not like that, there are a lot of mad bu**ers around.
While the money is obscene, what price money when the Iranians develop nuclear weapons, as they will, Putin becomes even more mad, and ISIS develops nuclear weapons as they will? The latter is probably the most dangerous as they are nutters and many of them see dying as martyrdom - so maybe they wouldn't worry whether we could get them with our nuclear weapons at the same time as they target us. |
