There is a misunderstanding about fibre broadband, which I would like to address. All broadband is fibre-optic based, as is your telephone landline. The difference is how it is delivered to your property. Any broadband that is not FTTC (I.e. Fibre To The Curb) is either delivered via copper wire (ADSL) like your telephone connection, or in the case of Virgin Media, by the cable that supplies your TV. With ADSL, your connection speed is dependent on how many hops this copper cable has to take before it reaches your premise. |
