| To the best of my recollection there was a consultation on this area which showed plans for a mini-roundabout at this junction like the one implemented at the bottom end by South Parade. Looks like they have switched back to the previous format with traffic from Fletcher Road and Southfield Road yielding to Acton Lane. This seems to have improved flows and ended the dangerous situation in which an E3 bus is at the stop on Southfield Road and westbound traffic is forced to overtake quite near the junction possibly into traffic entering from Acton Lane. The loss of the cycle refuge on Southfield Road may cause issues with buses turning left from Acton Lane and the street furniture looking left from Southfield Road does obstruct your view whether or not there is a van there. Cycling I would not come out at Fletcher Road but would use Reynolds Road across to Graham Road from which you can rejoin Southfield Road further up. |
