Gunnersbury Park was administered by a Joint Committee involving Ealing and Hounslow. They tended to bat anything between themselves and blame each other for inaction. Responsibility was handed over to Ealing on January 1st 2015.

There have been several attempts over the years to rescue the buildings from disrepair, notably the community riding stables established by Anne Stead in 1980, where I taught, and which was then handed over to what is now Ealing Riding School. We hoped that it would provide a sustainable model that would oblige the upkeep of the buildings and enable them to be used for their intended purpose. Alas it was not to be and they are now virtually derelict.

The Orangery was revamped a few years ago because it could generate revenue by beng used as a venue for weddings. The Friends of Gunnersbury Park also did heaps of research in the 1980s and opened up the kitchens as part of the museum.

When Phil Pardoe was curator, the museum hosted a wonderful exhibition on the Great West Road following the Firestone fiasco, and I believe his successors were instrumental in saving the original Lucozade sign from the A4.
