The chances of life surviving elsewhere is extremely remote given our own existence was a highly improbable mistake to begin with. That said, the incomprehensibly vast amount of galaxies and planets in the known universe can raise those odds somewhat. The problem is for these chances and conditions to occur simultaneously and in close proximity to each other is unfortunately so impossible as to a point whereby it's not worth thinking about. Until vastly accelerated hyper space travel is a reality or sustainable navigable wormholes are discovered and utilised, we're sadly very much alone. We should therefore start acting accordingly. |
