You need to deal with the source of the damp. I would get the disused fireplace checked and the chimney swept if necessary as years of build up of damp holding soot and debris is often the problem. There are some good sweeps locally who will not charge a fortune to clear the chimney once and for all. Plastering over it will not solve the problem. |
