Browsing through the report on the first trial that appeared at

I was puzzled by the calculation :

"Reducing the volume of rubbish collected

Based on figures tonnage figures from the start of
the trial until the end of November it is estimated
each household in the trial area will produce on
average 457kg of residual waste per annum
compared to 533kg by households in non trial
areas.

This  is 76kg  less per household
  equating to 33% reduction in waste in the trial area."

Can anyone else get this 33% figure ?

The paper explained that the calculation was set out in Appendix 2 of the report, but that wasn't included in the on-line document pack I found.

Interesting to find that the collection of wheelie-bins is slower (at 500/day compared with ? previously) but the reduced waste creates a saving of £64,000. (Is this for 2500 households/bins ? Or £25-60 each ? Meaning a bin takes only four years before it has paid for itself ?)
