| We really wanted to see this wonderful sight before the poppies were dismantled, so we drove up to the Tower at around 11pm last night, walked around the site for about half an hour or so. It was still fairly crowded but not overly so. I'm so glad we went, I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Thinking about who each of those poppies represented, and what they all represent as a whole, is still so important. Lots of families, even that time of night (I sympathise - I would probably also have kept my children up late rather then subject them to hours of waiting during the day). I was less sympathetic to the party animals doing grinning selfies; however, I suppose it was nearly midnight on a Saturday night, and they were in the minority. |
