It doesn't from personal experience as a bout of severe renal colic (caused by a large kidney stone) simply resulted in a lengthy telephone interview with a promised call-back (which never happened). A 'volunteer' St. John's Ambulance arrived some two and a half hours after the hyper-ventilating and vomiting patient had been taken to Ealing Hospital by car, admitted and placed on two drips and intra-venous painkillers in preparation for surgery! |
