My residents' parking permit had fallen out of its cracked holder and was on the floor and so was not 'clearly visible'. Due to a few neighbours with strong opinions about where I park, my car is left in a residents bay on a side street so I do not see it every day or I would have known there was a problem before I had a collection of PCNs. Anyway, the warden gave me three PCNs on consecutive days. I wrote to the council's service, Serco.com, and explained what had happened and asked that they reduce the number of penalties as a gesture of goodwill as the car does have a valid permit. All I received was three copies of 'you can pay £55 now or £110 later.' Do I have any option other than paying the £165? What happened to the good old days when residents received new holders with each permit renewal so you could replace them when they started to disintegrate? |
