I'm intrigued by the concept of London Ambulance recording "who is competent". How do they assess that? AEDs are designed so that, in principle, people with zero training should be able to use them. The machine gives clear spoken instructions and is designed to be fail-safe and idiot proof. Having said that, on first aid training courses I have seen people fail to follow the clear instructions of "peel off the plastic" or "place the pads on bare skin" so maybe there is nothing which is idiot-proof! |
