We can at least make sure that our children know where their food comes from and at a cost and teach them how to cook and grow things so they appreciate some of the work that goes into putting food on the table... and some of the enjoyment and satisfaction in doing so.

They should also understand that they don't need to slavishly follow all the labels on everything and engage their brains first and learn to manage food better.  I am still expecting to find the label on an apple saying "Eat this way up".

I think we now have two generations with no cooking skills and I keep hearing of one of them trying to empty everything out of the cupboards that is past its Best Before date...  Sure most of it is better in date but - what a waste...  We should engage with our food more and throw less of it away.
