| Massive congratulations are obviously due to John Todd & the other local Chiswick councillors for being the driving force behind the proposal for the new CHR Conservation Area which should make it harder for developers to demolish buildings like the Packhorse and Talbot. Thanks is also due any others at the council who helped paved the way. However, I'd still recommend that people go on the council's site to make comments opposing the demolition on the grounds that the conservation area is imminent. Also say that you will resist any plans to put an inappropriate building on the site. This is how to access it: From the main home page, click on : Environment & Planning Planning Search Planning Applications View weekly list of planning applications . Then look at ‘Applications received 4/8/2014 to 10/8/2014’ . The Packhorse’s application is easy to find as it’s right at the bottom of the page, number P/2014/3260. You can then click to comment. I should make it clear that we’re not just talking about one pub here. Down at Hounslow East, a 20 storey tower block is planned for the office block site next to Hounslow Bus Garage, and a 9 storey block has already gone up on vacant land near Harvey’s furniture store. If the worst happens to the P&T, an application might go in for a block at least 6 or 8 storeys if not 20, Even worse, such a development might then set a precedent for the area, so that demolitions and sky high rebuilds might become commonplace around CHR and Turnham Green Terrace. Please also in the same vein email Sean Doran at the council supporting the introduction of the conservation area. Councillors have done their bit so far, now residents need to do the same. |
