Thanks for the advice Sean, it didn't actually bite me but I read this morning that they can. See the Daily Mail article attached for real nightmares. What happened was a bit of a blur, but it was attached to the loo roll so when I pulled the paper the spider was catapulted onto me! Needless to say there was a big commotion which somehow ended up with the spider curled up on the floor in dying position (I hasten to add I would never knowingly kill a spider....).
